Zanskar in a raft - Part 2

Leh to Kargil (9-10 hrs)

To get to the put in point at Remala we needed to drive for 3 days (Yes 3 days). The first leg of our journey was about a 10 hour drive from Leh to Kargil

Leh to Kargil

Early morning on Day 1 we all piled into a mini bus, which would pretty much be our home for the next 3 days of travel. The road was going to be dusty, incredibly winding and at times washed out by floods.​

After a back breaking 10 hour drive we pull into the last hotel we would see for the next 10 days. Also this would be the last time we would have a hot shower.​

All of us were happy to wash the road off our face and then meet for a simpler dinner and copious amounts of rum. Carrying alcohol on this trip was the single wisest decision ever made. It helped us get through the cold nights we were in store for and it also helpfully provided counterbalance in the raft
